Our Legacy

Diamond Museum Amsterdam

Royal Coster Diamonds is more than just a diamond polishing factory. In 2007 we opened our own Diamond Museum to share our passion for diamonds with the public. Here you can learn everything about diamond history, see our breath-taking diamond collection and even participate in a diamond workshop where you can actually cut your own free diamond!

Our Legacy

The Diamond Museum, why we started it

The Diamond Museum was created on the initiative of Ben Meier, the late owner of Royal Coster Diamonds. As a world famous diamond polisher himself, Ben’s ambition was to let people take on a journey that represents the diamond life cycle.

Our Legacy

Diamond Museum
exhibition

First of all, the exhibition of the Diamond Museum travels back in time and tells you how diamonds were geologically created and formed into their final shape. The exhibition gives you an idea how humans passion for diamonds developed and explains how diamonds have increasingly been associated with wealth and power. Historical crowns and famous diamonds are replicated to show how those with power used diamonds to carry out their status.

Our Legacy

Live at The
Diamond Museum

The Diamond Museum doesn’t only present a historic view. It also contains a permanent diamond collection with famous diamonds, such as the Katana, the Rembrandt Diamond and the Ape Skull. The Diamond Museum also gives you the opportunity to see our diamond polishers live at work when they use their unique craftsmanship turning rough stones into beautiful jewellery.

Our Legacy

The Diamond Museum,
a great place for a workshop

Interested in the basics of diamond cutting or looking for a stylish location for a company outing? The Diamond Museum offers you a Basic Diamond Course. It’s a fun way of getting to know the basics of cutting and polishing a diamond. The workshop begins with a tour around the premises of Coster Diamonds and the Diamond Museum. After the tour you will be taught the first basic steps of our noble profession by our Master Diamond Cutter. Finally you will even be able to crawl into a diamond polishers skin when you get the opportunity to cut and polish your own free diamond.
